Futures program

The Futures program is a truly remarkable program. Teachers are dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of all our students by building essential skills and fostering independence for young adults with disabilities, ages 18-22.

The program focuses on crucial areas: employment, life skills, and community interactions. Students gain invaluable, real-world experience through engaging work opportunities, including an on-campus worksite at The Battle Ground Barkery and various off-campus worksites located throughout Battle Ground and Vancouver. Schedules are thoughtfully individualized to meet each student's specific needs, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment. Students interact with supervisors at these worksites which provide a variety of settings for learning, allowing them to gain valuable experience, develop essential skills and discover possible career paths.

Battle Ground High School job sites

Sip N Roar (coffee cart)

sip n roar

Beginning in 2024, the students work at the Sip N Roar coffee cart, located on the Battle Ground High School campus. They make and serve delicious coffee to the staff! Profits of the coffee cart go to the program.

BG Barkery (handmade dog treats)

barkery

As part of their vocational training, students make handmade, all natural, preservative-free dog treats, or “doggie biscotti” and sell them to various businesses. They participate in holiday craft fairs and sell lots of gifts to earn money for their program!

Students make the dough using a wheat alternative, then roll it out and cut it into the shape of a dog bone before baking and packaging the treats. The students help market and deliver the treats to customers and business partners in the community. This is a wonderful partnership, providing skills and job opportunities for students with disabilities as well as a quality product your dog will love!

You can purchase the doggie biscuits for sale at the following locations:

  • Amazia Veterinary Service

  • Battle Ground Produce

  • Hazel Dell Animal Hospital

  • Hockinson Market

  • Muddy Paws Dog Wash

  • Orchards Veterinary Clinic
