We asked Kelly to tell us some things that people might not know about her. Check out her answers to get to know a little more about our new assistant principal!

Do you have children of your own? What ages/grades are they in?
I have two children, Kevin and Sarah. My son, Kevin Jr. is married with four children of his own (yes, I’m a grandma. Hard to believe because I am so very youthful). My daughter, Sarah, works in the district as a Special Education Assistant. She is not married but working toward changing that status.

Where did you grow up, and where did you go to school?
I grew up in Damascus, Oregon. After high school I thought for sure I wanted to be a Medical Assistant. I attended Mt. Hood Community college where I was to earn my certification. While on vacation in Hawaii, I met my Navy husband, Kevin, and my career path changed. I traveled from Hawaii to the East Coast and a few places in between. After raising Kevin and Sarah, I started thinking about school and my career again. Through the years I have attended Louisiana State University, Clark College, City University, and Western Governors University.

Do you have any favorite sports/teams?
I’m not a big sports fan, although I do enjoy the fun commercials shown on big game days!

If you were a character in a Disney movie, which character would you be, and why?
Without a doubt, I would be Dory. She represents what I think all people should strive to be. She is kind, caring, funny, loyal and when things get tough, she just keeps on swimming, never even thinking of giving up.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband, Kevin. I also enjoy painting, refinishing furniture, working in my yard, and playing with my grand kids.

Finish this sentence: “I am excited/proud to be a Yacolt Beaver because….”
I am excited to be a Yacolt Beaver because our community of teachers, students, staff, and parents are incredible. I am so proud to be a part of the Yacolt Primary story!
