Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

We need your help to keep the school and your children safe. EVERY child’s safety is important to us. It remains our highest priority to ensure that students enter and exit cars in a safe and organized way. We ask everyone to correctly follow our new pick-up and drop-off procedures. Failure to do so creates chaos, frustration and unsafe conditions. Each family should discuss these new loading and walking procedures. Thank you for your continuing support in making Yacolt Primary a safe and productive environment for all.

General Precautions:

  • No arrivals prior to 8:50 A.M.
  • No honking or signaling to students from your vehicle at any time.
  • Use crosswalks to cross streets and loading zone lanes.
  • DO NOT drive through or drop students off in the bus loading/unloading zone between the times of 8:50 A.M. to 9:10 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. to 3:50 P.M.
  • Please do not wait in the halls or outside classrooms before dismissal.
  • Parents may pick up children from the flagpole or office only.
  • Students are to be picked–up promptly at dismissal.

There is No Playground Supervision Before or After School

Playing on the fields or playgrounds in the morning is not allowed, even if the parent or caregiver is present. Students must arrive no earlier than 8:50 A.M. and must enter in through the cafeteria doors until the 9:00 A.M. bell signals it’s time to walk to the classroom. Playground supervision will also not be provided after school.

Dropping off at the flagpole:

  • Do not drop your child off at the flagpole without a staff member present.
  • Students can unload from PASSENGER SIDE of vehicle only.  The driver should remain in the vehicle at all times and all driver side doors are to remain closed.  No trunk unloading allowed in this zone.
  • Have all school materials including backpack and lunch ready before student exits vehicle.
  • Once your student has exited your vehicle please exit the parking lot to the left.

  • Children walk and do not run to buses.
  • Respect and listen to the bus driver at all times.
  • Children must stay seated & voices quiet!
  • Report behavior issues to school administrators and this includes bullying, intimidation & harassment
  • Listen & report if child notices something odd or unsafe, report to bus driver and school administrators.
